Radisson Blu Hotel

Project Overview:

With its contemporary European vibe and direct access to Minneapolis’ Mall of America, the Radisson Blu Hotel is one of the hottest and most desirable hotels in the twin cities. Radisson Blu has been described as the high-end European sister brand to Radisson. With much success, the company emphasizes providing design driven accommodations with iconic style.

The use of wood is interesting in this stylish hotel; it provides a sense of equilibrium when paired with the ultra-modern furnishings and sleek surfaces within the space. The hotel has been described as having an edgy, fashion forward aesthetic with chic, modern Midwestern appeal by Radisson officials.

VT Contribution:

VT Industries proudly supplied 125 architectural wood doors for the public spaces of this unique hotel.

Partnering with Kendell Door and Hardware on the project, VT manufactured a variety of doors for conference rooms, ballrooms, bathrooms, and various other openings in the public spaces. Many of these doors were 7’ and 8’ doors and featured rift cut white oak veneers. One of the most unique doors on the project was an oversized door that is set on a pivot hinge, making it a true statement entrance.

It comes as no surprise that a hospitality company dedicated to creating highly designed and curated spaces would seek architectural details and finishes that take their spaces to the next level. Such details come in the form of blueprint matched panels and doors and customer supplied veneers. “We have an extremely high level of confidence with VT. There were two main factors which made VT the only door manufacturer for the job. First was VT’s willingness to embrace customer supplied veneer and their ability to source additional veneer of the same quality and graining to complement what the customer supplied. The second factor was VT’s ability to handle the blueprint matching in accordance to the millwork plan,” explains John Katter, President and CEO of Kendell Doors and Hardware.
