Project Overview:
The 2020 - 2021 school year welcomed 760 students to the newly renovated Pope Elementary located a few miles east of Tacoma, Washington in the heart of the Puyallup Valley. Pope Elementary underwent a $28 million construction project that not only gave the school the modernized updates needed, but also expanded the school making room for another 250 students, a new cafeteria/commons area, 32 home rooms, new office spaces, and additional parking.
Norm Jost, Territory Sales Manager for VT Industries, presents Lunch & Learns jointly with a Wilsonart Specifications Representative to prominent Seattle and Tacoma architects throughout the year discussing Wilsonart laminate and laminate doors, especially in school applications. One of the firms was Mahlum Architects who has specified VT Industries for years and directs their associates' wood door questions to Norm. Due to these strong relations and trust in VT's doors, Washington Architectural Hardware requested VT's assistance with the Pope Elementary project.
VT’s Contribution:
VT provided over 120 flush doors to Pope Elementary featuring non-rated and 45-minute fire ratings, 5-ply construction with particleboard cores and structural composite lumber cores (SCLC). Wilsonart laminate colors selected for this project include Bellini Blue, Blue Curacao, Cucumber Juice, and Wheat Berry.
