Dell Children’s Hospital of Central Texas is located in Austin, Texas, and serves a 46-county area. The $200 million, 473,000-square-foot hospital is described as a “high-tech, high-touch” facility. It was designed to create a warm and positive healing environment for patients coping with critical illnesses.
Dell Children’s Hospital was designed to be the first hospital to receive LEED® Platinum Certification (the highest achievable). The hospital needed a door solution that would provide environmentally friendly attributes, in addition to the enhanced performance required in healthcare applications.
VT Industries supplied in excess of 1,000 plain sliced white maple flush wood veneer doors for the hospital. All of the doors were slip- and balance-matched and had a clear finish.
