Burns & McDonnell, a full service engineering and consulting solutions firm added a new, four-story, 310,000 sq. foot addition to their corporate headquarters in Kansas City. With this new expansion, Burns & McDonnell increased the size of its world headquarters by 74 percent. This is the third building on the firm’s 37-acre campus.
Architects were challenged to create a space that represented the upscale vision of the management team at Burns & McDonnell. American Direct and VT worked together to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind workplace with custom match hackberry woodwork to compliment the adjacent paneling.
VT provided 259 doors in the new facility. The doors installed featured fire ratings from 45-90 minute, acoustical ratings, along with seven pocket doors. The expansion spanned a total of 17 months to complete. With VT’s quick lead times, the project team was able to complete the job on-time and under budget.
