Continuing Education 

At VT Industries, we value the importance of continuing education as a way to stay at the forefront of the industry. That’s why we provide a number of online and on-site presentations and classes to help architects further their knowledge. All of our courses help in earning American Institute of Architects (AIA) continuing education learning units. All courses are also registered with the Door and Hardware Institute’s continuing education program.

 

VTI 102 - The Benefits of Using Decorative Laminates on Architectural Wood Doors (Online)

This course will cover the features and benefits of using decorative laminates on architectural wood doors. This course highlights the following topics:

• Laminate door construction
• Design considerations and choices
• Textures and optional finishes
• Decorative laminate wood doors compared to wood veneer doors
• Design, durability, and value
• Repairability

To complete this course online all 12 questions must be answered correctly. If a correct answer is submitted, the test will automatically continue on to the next question. VTI 103 - Specifying HPDL Architectural Wood Doors (On-site)

In this course you will learn about specifying High Pressure Decorative Laminate (HPDL) architectural wood doors. This course will provide information in regards to:

• Developing an understanding of high pressure decorative laminate
• Providing design considerations and choices
• Increasing awareness of HPDL door construction

 

VTI 202 - Wood Door Construction (On-site)

This course focuses on wood door construction. Listed below are a few points that will be covered:

• Review of the components of an architectural wood door
• Increase awareness of wood door construction materials
• Provide a better understanding of industry standards and environmental aspects

This course counts toward Health, Safety, and Welfare credit.

 

VTI 303 - Veneers for Architectural Wood Doors (On-site)

This course explores the veneers of architectural wood doors. A few key points of this course include:

• Identifying wood veneer cuts, matching, and patterns
• Increased awareness of common wood door species
• Preparing specifications with complete veneer requirements

This course counts toward Health, Safety, and Welfare credit.

VTI 406 - Life Safety: Positive Pressure, Balanced Construction, and Annual Inspections (On-site)

This course covers the basics of positive pressure and how it affects wood door opening assemblies. The following points will be addressed:

• Increase knowledge of positive pressure
• Incorporating balanced fire construction
• Educate on the importance of annual fire inspections

This course counts toward Health, Safety, and Welfare credit.

VTI 507 - Sustainable Choices in Wood Door Construction (On-site)

This course discusses sustainable choices in wood door construction. The following topics will be covered:

• Review LEED standards and points available
• Increase awareness of wood door construction materials
• Develop awareness of materials and finishes pertaining to Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)
• Learn sustainable ways to specify veneers

This course counts toward Health, Safety, and Welfare and Sustainable Design credit.

VTI 606 - Architectural Stile and Rail Wood Door Options (On-site)

This course discusses architectural stile and rail wood door options. The following topics will be covered:

• Stile and rail wood door construction.
• Design considerations and choices for stile and rail wood doors.
• Positive and neutral pressure fire ratings and how they relate to stile and rail wood doors.
• Environmental options and associated LEED credits.

This course counts toward Health, Safety, and Welfare credit.
